The 20-member Search & Screening Committee reviewed 19 applications. The top 5 candidates were sent to the 14-member Interview Panel.
The Interview Panel consisted of (listed alphabetically): Don Cannemela, Teacher/Teacher Association Co-President;Danielle Brown, High School Secretary; Carter Eldridge, Teacher; Amy Guiney, Parent/BoE member; Andrew Knowles, Parent; John Liebfred, Non-Instructional Staff; Jennifer Merriman, Parent; Michelle Murray, Parent/Teacher; Brooke Reid, Parent/Administrator; Cassia Sago, Middle School Student; Mark Severtson, High School Student; Melissa Scudder, School Counselor; Liz White, Parent/Teacher; Jeff Yette, Parent/BoE member.
The Interview Panel concluded their second day of interviewing yesterday evening and sent the top 3 finalist candidates to me.
The 3 finalists (listed alphabetically) are:
- Mr. Peter Arquette - Assistant Principal of the Monroe Middle School in Stanardsville, Virginia since 2015. Peter has his Masters from James Madison University and his B.A. from SUNY Potsdam. Peter is a PHCS Alumnus
- Mr. Steven Coffin - Principal of Gouverneur Middle School since 2012. Steven has his C.A.S., Masters, and B.S. from St. Lawrence University.
- Ms. Nicole Weakfall - Nicole has been Interim Elementary Principal here at PHCS since December. Nicole has her C.A.S. from SUNY Stoney Brook, Masters from SUNY Potsdam, and B.S. from St. Lawrence University.
I will interview Peter, Steven, and Nicole by the end of next week and bring two names forward the Board of Education at their March 18th meeting, with my recommendation for the secondary principal. I anticipate that the Board will make a July 1st appointment at that time.
This was a comprehensive, transparent, and inclusive process that resulted in 3 outstanding candidates being moved forward. A huge 'THANK YOU' is owed to the 20 members of the Search & Screening Committee and to those who went on to serve on the Interview Panel for volunteering their time and talent.
